Sunday morn’s wake to

A symphony concert on

As my spouse usually listens

Yet she turned down the volume

So I may continue my slumber.

When I wake up and sit at the

Edge of my bed

She turns the volume up

But not as much

As the contemporary

Classical symphony

Is not to her liking: ‘Boring on a

Continuous level

She mumbles.

I prepare my breakfast of

Cereals almonds and chia seed

Some black grapes.

Then she’s uneasy and

One false word may sparkle

A domestic fight.

The poet draws back to his

And while he listens to

Lee Morgan – Wynton Kelly’s

‘Dizzy Atmosphere’

He feels at least that way

But he’s able to get into

The groove of writing.

Happy morn’ at last.
