Most persons I’ve loved
Are now gone.
I sit naked at my desk
Physical wellness is so
Enjoyable.
The warm air flows over
My skin
Woken by a reviving
Shower.
It’s 6 am and one bird
Warbles
At a close distance
However.
I miss their concerted
Chatter.
Do we lose their enjoyable
Presence?
The last remnants of a
Paradise lost?
Forever gone?
Caused by men’s greed
And women’s selfishness?
Into the deafening silence
My ears strain like antennae
To catch yet another birdsong
But have the feathery friends
Retreated into the woods
Nearby?
Just like human warmth and
Compassion has faded out.
The poet in search of his
Muse.
