Conceited

Hemingway considered

Zelda Fitzgerald as insane

in A Moveable Feast

and I wondered about B

lecturing all morn’

as if she would deliver

a sermon to me

how to conduct myself

to make friends

or how to go on in life.

Has she ever looked at

my own writing?

I’ve accepted her for

living her own life and

I thought she might be

happy that way.

Somehow in a

manic-depressive way

she tries to access me

to follow her ways

which as an artist

I cannot do.

So do I have to forfeit

my individuality and

stay-off my ways of

writing and drawing?

She calls me therefore

dumb

as a man will need

far longer to mature

than a woman.

Am I indeed conceited?
